Sue the Night is the stage moniker of dutch artist Suus (Sue) de Groot.  The sultry sound of Sue’s melodies is guaranteed to get you hooked to its spiraling layers of melancholy with a shimmering feel-good vibe.

Since the release of debut-album ‘Mosaic’ (2015) it’s been quite a ride; sold out clubshows and playing festivals such as Best Kept Secret, Paaspop, Indian Summer, Concert At Sea, Zwarte Cross, airplay for singles ‘The Whale’ (megahit)and ‘Top of Mind’, 3FM award nomination for ‘Best upcoming Band‘ and ‘Best Single‘ by 3voor12.  August 2016 the band was asked to be a monthly musical guest at the (then) biggest Dutch Daily Talkshow ‘De Wereld Draait Door’. New singles ‘The World Below’ (megahit)  and ‘Mind Dear‘ became hits on both Dutch radio 2 & 3 and the WANDERLAND album (april 2017) entered no 4. in the vinyl charts and was nominated for an Edison (Best Rock) and 3voor12 (Best Album) award. Also nominations by 3FM, SXSW & NFF for ‘Best Videoclip‘ (Mind Dear).

The release ’s o f t’ (2018) has songs futured in the Japanese Netflix series ‘Terrace House’ and the song ‘Like Snow’ was written especially for the dutch movie ‘Rafael‘,  which played in Dutch cinema’s and was nominated for a Gouden Kalf.

The World Below‘ became favorite on one of German biggest national radio stations NDR. Several tours in Germany followed, as well as a collaboration with GAS- label Pop-Up.

In 2019 everything was ‘on hold’ and Sue got back to Suus, first time parenting, nurturing and growing into mother/parenthood.2020 Sue went back to writing, demo’ing new ideas. Then pre-productions with bass player Jaimie van Hek; in a quiet Amsterdam, while coping with lockdowns and canceled dates. After even a longer live-break (2nd lockdown) and basking in family life, a big reset fell upon the songwriter.

The joy of not to ‘be visible’ and being merely offline and safe at home was tempting to continue. But new plans had to be made: the songs were begging for a band! With Victor Dirks on the drums, Jaimie on bass and Sue piano or guitar, the songs we’re getting in their ‘live-feel’. She gathered a new group of musicians to complete the band, then went into the studio of Viktor van Woudenberg and recorded the new music bit by bit.

Sue the Night’s new album ‘Susanne and the Sad Sunset Disco is due October 20th. First single OCEANS (You Might Go) released 19.05, is a song about new experiences and adventures; diving into the great unknown.  With features on New Music Friday, Deezer, and the track got selected by NPO2 and 3FM to be on the playlist.

Right now, the runner up/second single  FRONTROW is released (18.09.2023), Sue wrote the song recapping her first year of parenthood.
